Loke: Khairy, Shahril to join DAP is Ong’s opinion

PUTRAJAYA: It was the personal opinion of former Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming for two Umno stalwarts to join DAP, says Anthony Loke.

The DAP secretary-general said this when asked by reporters on whether Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Sufian Hamdan should be accepted into the party.

“I have no comment on his (Ong) opinion,” he said while declining to give further comment.

Ong had joined Khairy and Shahril on the KeluarSekejap podcast on YouTube.

During the show, the former MP put forward a suggestion for Khairy and Shahril to join DAP as the party did not have a prime ministerial candidate.

Khairy, the former Rembau MP and health minister, was sacked by Umno for violating the party’s disciplinary rules.

Shahril, the former Umno information chief, was suspended for six years.

To date, Khairy had kept the guessing game about his political career while Shahril said he would not participate in the upcoming state polls.

When contacted, Khairy said in jest: “I am joining Trump”, referring to former US president Donald Trump, who is eyeing a second term at the White House despite facing 34 felony counts related to business fraud.
