Anwar to host open house in Alor Setar this weekend

ALOR SETAR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be in Kedah for a two-day visit this weekend, where he will play host to the Federal Government’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here.

Some 25,000 people are expected to attend at the Raia Hotel from 10am to 4pm tomorrow.

Today, Anwar will be attending the Madani gathering at Dataran Stargate here at 8.30pm.

The Kedah stop will be the first of six Malaysia Madani Aidilfitri open house events.

Other events are in Penang on May 6, Negri Sembilan (May 7), Kelantan (May 12), Terengganu (May 13) and Selangor (May 14).

On Sunday, the Prime Minister is expected to grace the Hari Raya open house hosted by the Sabah government.

State Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Ariffin Arif, who is also the event’s main organising chairman, said Anwar had accepted the state government’s invitation to attend the open house at the Sabah International Convention Centre.

“The Prime Minister will be joining Head of State Tun Dr Juhar Mahiruddin, and his wife, Toh Puan Hajah Dr Norlidah RM Jasni, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, and state Cabinet members,” he said in a statement.

Ariffin said the public was also invited to the open house starting at 10am.
