PETALING JAYA: There was an atmosphere of solidarity and devotion at St Paul’s Church here as hundreds of Christians came to attend Easter mass.
Leading the communion, Rev Dr Vijendra Daniel told parishioners to embrace the Easter spirit of hope and remain steadfast in facing the current challenges in their lives.
He also reminded them that through the continued practice of Christian values, there was no need to fear the unknown.
Easter is considered the most important day in the Christian calendar as devotees across the world gather to celebrate Jesus’s resurrection, which many see as a message of hope and optimism for the future.
Joseph Vijayraj, 48, who attended the mass with his wife and three children, said he loved the festive feeling of Easter.
“We undergo our own period of fasting and prayer for 40 days called Lent in the build-up to Easter.
“The Holy Week before Easter is the most exciting as the increasing strength of the words used in the daily sermons help to build our anticipation for the message of our salvation on Easter,” the engineer said.
Retiree Benjamin Ng, 64, said he loved the communal atmosphere of Easter and always found himself inspired by the holy day’s message of optimism.
“I love this feeling of gathering together and celebrating as both a community and one big family as we share the same meal of wine and bread.
“I have also always admired how so many people from different backgrounds can come together in solidarity,” said Ng, who has been coming to the church for over 10 years with his wife.
