Perikatan says no to Pejuang

PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional has rejected Pejuang’s application to join the coalition.

Perikatan secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said the decision was made following its supreme council meeting on Monday.“The council rejected Pejuang’s application to join Perikatan,” he said.

“The supreme council also decided to maintain the use of the Perikatan symbol in the state elections of Kedah, Selangor, Penang and Negri Sembilan, and to use the PAS symbol in Kelantan and Terengganu,” he said in a statement yesterday, Bernama reported.

Hamzah said the supreme council also appointed Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor as the coalition’s election director-general, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee as Sabah Perikatan liaison chairman, Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin as Federal Territories Perikatan liaison chairman, and Mohamad Siddiq Mohd Azani and Muhd Khidir Izaidin as assistant executive secretaries.

In GE15 last November, all Pejuang candidates – including founder Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his son Mukhriz – lost their deposits.
