Car driver killed after vehicle crashes into 4WD in Lahad Datu


The accident between a motorcar and a four-wheel drive at Lahad Datu on Friday, which saw a motorist killed on site.

KOTA KINABALU: A 51-year-old man was killed in an accident along Jalan Lahad Datu-Tunku on Friday (March 17).

The body of Mohamad Ishak Aliuddin was recovered by firefighters and he was pronounced dead on site by a medical officer.

The Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Department earlier received an emergency call at 12.25pm informing the collision between a car and a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle, where three victims were involved.

Mohamad Ishak's passenger suffered minor injuries while the driver of the other vehicle was unharmed, said a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.

Lahad Datu police in a separate statement said initial investigations found the car driver who was coming from Lahad Datu direction lost control of the vehicle and swerved to the opposite lane, hitting the incoming 4WD.

"The body has been taken to the Lahad Datu Hospital for further action,” said district police chief ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 (causing death due to reckless or dangerous driving).
