Immigration officer allegedly stamps on junior's neck during fitness test

IPOH: An Immigration Department officer sustained facial injuries and a broken tooth after allegedly being injured by a senior officer, says Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The Perak police chief said the officer alleged that he had been injured while undergoing a special fitness test at the temporary immigration depot in Bidor on Thursday (March 9) at 9.30am.

"It was the last day of the test where the complainant and two others were ordered by the senior officer to do 20 push-ups

"While doing the push-ups, the senior officer was alleged to have stepped on the complainant's neck, causing the latter to fall and injure his nose, lips and gums," he said in a statement on Sunday (Mar 12)

Comm Mohd Yusri added that the complainant also broke a tooth and had sought treatment at the Shah Alam Hospital in Selangor.

"A report was lodged by the complainant at the Tapah police station on Friday (March 10) at 2am," he added.

Comm Mohd Yusri said the police have called up the senior officer and witnesses to help with the investigation.

"The matter is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code. Those found guilty can be jailed up to seven years and fined," he added.
