JASIN: A jobless man has been charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with the murder of a senior citizen.
Peter David, 20, was charged with murdering Misah Md Amin, 91, at Kampung Pulai Darat, Merlimau here at 1.30am on Jan 20.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides the death sentence if found guilty, reported Bernama.
The man nodded his head after the charge was read out to him in Tamil before Magistrate Tan Chai Wei, but no plea was recorded.
The court set March 8 for submission of documents.
It was reported that Misah was found lying lifeless in her kitchen by a neighbour at her home on Jan 20.
The neighbour, who declined to be identified, said she heard a commotion in the victim’s kitchen at about 2am.
She also saw a man fleeing the scene when she ran over to provide aid.
