A 70-YEAR-OLD man in Uttar Pradesh, India became the talk of the town after marrying his deceased son’s wife, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Kailash Yadav from Lucknow is a widower with four children. His third son, who died a few years ago, was married to Pooja, 28.

Pooja was apparently living by herself and was lonely after her husband died so she agreed to wed her father-in-law in a temple at their village.

Reports of the unusual wedding went viral online and Pooja has since said she was happy with her second marriage.

Marrying a sibling of the spouse who has passed away is common in India to maintain family ties, but marrying the father-in-law is unheard of.

> The Indian community in Negri Sembilan is closely watching who will be appointed to replace J. Arul Kumar as state executive councillor, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The Nilai assemblyman who held the human resources, plantation and non-Islamic affairs portfolio resigned on Jan 26. This came after he was appointed political secretary to Transport Minister and DAP secretary general Anthony Loke.

The non-Islamic affairs portfolio is regarded as important by the community because of the RM1.8mil allocation for places of worship in the state.
