Ops Selamat 19: Last day sees accidents cases still over 1,000


PETALING JAYA: The last day of Op Selamat 19 has seen accident cases still breaching the 1,000 mark.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Mat Kasim Karim (pic), in a statement on Saturday (Jan 28), said that a total of 1,389 accidents were recorded, involving 1,711 vehicles.

The breakdown showed that 1,140 of the vehicles involved were cars. This made up 66.62% of the total accidents recorded.

A further 211 4WDs and 250 motorcycles were also involved in accidents recorded under the Op Selamat 19 banner.

Op Selamat 19 ran from Jan 19 to Jan 27.
