Melaka cops hunting for hit-and-run driver involved in crash that killed 14-year-old


MELAKA: A car driver has gone missing after being involved in a crash that killed a 14-year-old pillion rider of a motorcycle at Jalan Klebang Besar here on Saturday morning (Jan 28).

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the car driver had abandoned his car and abandoned the scene after being involved in the accident at 2am.

He said until now, the driver had yet to lodge a police report and his men were tracking the person behind the wheel based on the car registration document.

ACP Christopher Patit identified the deceased as Muhammad Afiq Danish Abd Aziz from Jalan Kampung Tengah, Klebang Besar, here.

He said the deceased was riding a pillion with his 41-year-old close friend who was identified as Tan Kok Som from Lereh here.

ACP Christopher Patit said Tan was also seriously injured in the accident and now fighting for his life at the Melaka Hospital.

He said both of them were on their way to a petrol kiosk in Klebang when the car from the same direction rammed into their motorcycle from the rear.

ACP Christopher Patit said Muhammad Afiq Danish was killed on the spot.

He added the accident was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
