Dr Wee visits latest flood relief centre to open in Ayer Hitam

PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong visited the flood relief centre in his constituency of Ayer Hitam, Johor, to check on conditions there on Saturday (Jan 28).

"Right after the Chinese New Year celebration in Yong Peng, assemblyman Ling Tian Soon and I visited SK Sri Bertam Yong Peng, which is the fourth relief centre opened in the Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituency.

"So far, there are 59 victims from 19 families who were staying at Jalan Lama Yong Peng, Kg Temehel and Kg Paya, seeking shelter at the relief centre.

"It is still drizzling but hopefully, the rain will stop soon," he said in a Facebook post Saturday.

Following rains and gloomy weather in most districts on Saturday morning, the number of flood evacuees in Johor has increased slightly.

The state Disaster Management Committee said that the number has gone up to 3,480 as of Saturday morning.
