Businessman flashes gun during argument

KOTA KINABALU: A businessman is being investigated following a video of a quarrel during which a pistol was brandished amid an exchange of words.In the video of the incident in Tawau, a man is seen brandishing a pistol during an argument with a car repossessor.

The man was seen holding his pistol as he spoke to some men before putting the weapon into the back of his trousers.

It is learnt that the man arrived at the scene following a call from a friend, whose car was being repossessed.

Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said following the incident that took place at Taman Jambu in Jalan Sin Onn, at around 2.30pm on Friday, they received two police reports – one from the businessman and another from the car repossessor.

“After getting statements from both men, initial investiga- tions found that the incident stemmed from a car repossession issue,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the businessman had a firearms licence, and the pistol allegedly used in the incident was not seized.

“We will forward our investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions,” said ACP Jasmin, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
