KOTA KINABALU: A businessman is being investigated in Tawau district for alleged criminal intimidation.

The businessman allegedly brandished a pistol during an argument with a car repossessor at Taman Jambu, Jalan Sin Onn Tawau at around 2.30pm on Friday (Dec 30).

It is learnt that the businessman had received a call from a female friend whose car was being repossessed.

A viral video of the incident shows the businessman seen holding a pistol while speaking to some men, before putting it back into the back of his trousers.

In a statement, Sunday (Jan 1), Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said they had received two police reports on the incident, one from the business and one from the car repossessor.

He said the businessman has a firearms license and the pistol used in the incident was not seized.

"We will forward our investigation paper to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instruction," ACP Jasmin said.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
