Actor arrested for reckless driving on MRR2

KUALA LUMPUR: A 30-year-old actor has been detained for driving recklessly and causing an accident along the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) here.

A video showing a vehicle believed to be driven by the actor in a dangerous manner went viral after the incident on Tuesday.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the driver of the Perodua Myvi had changed lanes recklessly, causing him to lose control of the car.

“This led the driver to ram his vehicle against the left rear of a Toyota Innova.

“The impact of the collision caused the front female passenger of the Myvi to be thrown out of the vehicle, but she sustained only light injuries,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Both drivers have lodged police reports over the accident.

“We have detained the Myvi driver to facilitate our investigation. He has been remanded for a day,” said ACP Mohamad Farouk.

He urged those who had witnessed the accident to contact traffic investigating officer Insp Nur Nadzirah Abdul Rahim at 012-440 1093.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving.
