IPOH: A total of nine premises in Ipoh have been issued with temporary suspension of operation notices by the Ipoh City Council (MBI).

Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said these premises were issued with the notice due to its high risk location on Dec 19.

"Among those that received the notices are the D’Aini Chalet, M&F Agro Resort, Dmec Waterfall Cafe, Tingkat Valley and D’Sungai Meru. These premises are at risk of water surges, flash flooding and are located near slopes," he said.

Rumaizi said this during the MBI full board meeting at the council's headquarters on Thursday (Dec 22)

D’Lereng Adventure Camp & Resort, Sunnebeam Paradise, Glamping & Floating Villa Lost World of Tambun and The Banjaran Hotspring Retreat were also issued with the same notices.

He added that the notices ran from Dec 19 to Wednesday (Dec 21).

Rumaizi added the council had conducted checks at eleven high risk locations in the city.

"These checks are being done regularly especially during this monsoon season.

"We hope all recreational sites in Ipoh will adhere to the notices issued to avoid any incidents from happening," he said.

On Dec 20, Perak infrastructure committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said some 239 hillslopes in Perak have been identified as very high-risk areas.

Nizar also said that the state Public Works Department (JKR) would monitor the situation, especially during the current monsoon season.
