Delivery man dies after hitting buffalo


KOTA KINABALU: A delivery man was killed after crashing his motorcycle into a buffalo along Jalan Felda Sabahat 6 in Lahad Datu district. The 22-year-old was with two other friends when the accident occurred early yesterday.

Lahad Datu OCPD Asst Comm Rohan Shah Ahmad said in the 2am mishap, the victim had crashed into one of three buffaloes when they suddenly crossed the road.

“This information was gathered from the victim’s two friends, who were also riding their motorcycles,” he said in a statement.

The victim was believed to have died on the spot, he said.

He said the victim was not suspected to have been driving under the influence of alcohol during the incident, but blood samples had been taken for investigations.

“The body has been sent to Hospital Lahad Datu for post-mortem,” he said.ACP Rohan said the case was being investigated under the Road Transport Act 1987.
