PM's Dept: Viral post about Ismail Sabri being appointed PETRONAS chairman is fake

PETALING JAYA: A post claiming former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is going to be appointed as PETRONAS chairman is fake, says the Prime Minister’s Department.

The department also called for the public to not share unverified or fake information on social media.

"The department refers to a post that went viral on social media entitled 'Ismail Sabri appointed as PETRONAS chairman'.

"The information shared through the social media account is fake," the department said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 7).

It also added that the public can get verified news regarding the Prime Minister’s statement only on its official social media accounts.

Previously, the post with a photo of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Ismail Sabri at Perdana Putra went viral with a caption saying that the latter would be appointed as PETRONAS chairman.
