Nearly RM60mil in traffic summonses collected this year

KUALA LUMPUR: Almost RM60mil in traffic summonses have been settled this year, largely due to easier access to online payments.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said some RM10.37mil were collected via 37 counters, which offered 50% discounts nationwide between January and October.

“The response towards settling summonses online via the MyBayar Saman portal and app has been tremendous.

“A total of 105,260 users paid their summonses online amounting to RM49.6mil between January and October this year.

“This achievement is a testament to the hard work and efforts by the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT),” he said in his speech during the Bukit Aman monthly assembly yesterday.

Paying summonses online has greatly enabled the settlement of overdue traffic summonses, he added.

The country’s top cop also praised police officers and personnel, especially those from the department, who had gone out of their way to help people in need.

“It heartens me to see news on social media of policemen going beyond their job scope to help people,” he said, citing the example of some department personnel who had helped to clear a clogged drain to ensure the smooth flow of water and traffic.

He also praised the work and efforts put in by all officers and personnel during the 15th General Election (GE15).

“GE15 went on smoothly without any major untoward incident. For that, I am deeply grateful to the public, especially politicians and their supporters in giving good cooperation and abiding by the laws.

“Many parties and their supporters have shown maturity in campaigning,” he said, pledging the police’s support for government policies in propelling the country towards prosperity and growth.

“Let us all give the best service with integrity for the good of the people and the country,” he said.
