‘Enough supply of eggs and cooking oil’

SHAH ALAM: Selangor residents have been assured of a sufficient supply of eggs and subsidised cooking oil in one kilogramme packs.

Selangor’s chief enforcement officer of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, Mohd Khairi Jamaludin, said even if there is a shortage, it would only be temporary and confined to certain localities.

Supply will be restored in a reasonable time, he said in a statement yesterday, according to Bernama.

“Undeniably, there are limits on the purchase of eggs, but the situation is not critical,” he said as he called for the cooperation of consumers to only buy according to their needs and not to hoard.

“Do not engage in panic buying by keeping a surplus of stock,” he added.

On the one kilogramme cooking oil packs, Mohd Khairi said inspections conducted yesterday found that the supply was stable and sufficient to meet the demand.

“The government’s directive to limit sales to only three packets per purchase is reasonable in order to ensure that everybody gets to enjoy subsidised cooking oil,” he said.

Mohd Khairi added that the Selangor enforcement division of the ministry will continue to conduct daily checks on the price and supply of essential items in the market.
