Rock star welcome for Anwar on his return to Tambun

IPOH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a rock star's welcome upon his arrival at the Tanjung Rambutan wet market in the Tambun constituency here.

Despite his delayed arrival at 12.15pm for the scheduled 11.30am visit here on Friday (Dec 2), the Tambun MP was greeted with loud cheers as soon as he stepped out of his car.

The excited crowd strained to get a closer look at him, as this was the first time the PKR president had come back since winning the parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election on Nov 19.

Some managed to shake hands and took selfies with the Pakatan Harapan chairman.

Anwar only managed to greet a few people and spent about 10 minutes at the market before rushing off to the Muhammad Al-Fateh Mosque in Taman Jati for Friday prayers.

Anwar earlier had an audience with Perak's Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at Istana Kinta here at 10.50am.
