Cabinet line-up to be announced Dec 2 afternoon, says PM

IPOH: The new Cabinet line-up will be announced on Friday (Dec 2) afternoon, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said he had presented the proposed Cabinet list to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"There are many qualified people and there will surely be some limits because we don't want too many ministers.

"This was the outcome of the audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong... I will announce the Cabinet line-up later Friday afternoon.

Anwar was speaking during the "Kenduri Rakyat" programme during his visit to Tambun, Perak on Friday.

Meanwhile, Anwar said he was supposed to postpone other scheduled programmes on Friday to focus on the Cabinet line-up.

"But I cannot ignore the locals in Tambun and Perak," said Anwar.

Anwar earlier had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur at 8.20am on Friday and another with Perak's Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at Istana Kinta, Ipoh, later at 10.30am.

Anwar will announce the Cabinet line-up at 5pm in Perdana Putra.

Sources have indicated that this will only involve a partial Cabinet, as negotiations for several portfolios are still ongoing.
