Body of man who fell off Tenom bridge found after six days


KOTA KINABALU: The drowned body of a man was found on Tuesday (Nov 29), believed to be the victim who had fallen off a bridge in Tenom.

The man's body was found on the seventh day of the search and rescue operation (SAR).

The deceased was identified as Alvin Robert, 20, whose remains were discovered at Batu 66, Parang Besar in Beaufort at 12.41pm by members of the public, according to the Fire and Rescue Department.

"The Fire and Rescue team from Beaufort retrieved and carried the body and handed it over to the police for further action," said the department spokesman.

On Nov 23, a report was received alerting about an incident at Sungai Padas bridge in Tenom, where an unidentified man fell into the river at 10.26am.

Meanwhile, in a separate case in Tawau on Tuesday, the Fire and Rescue Department assisted a man who got a ring stuck on his little finger on his left hand.

The team responded to the report at 12.45pm coming from the Tawau district hospital to cut off the piece of jewellery from the 34-year-old victim.

"Our personnel cut off the ring using a special device and after ensuring no more risks, the operation ended at 1.12pm," said the department spokesman, adding that the victim sustained a minor injury on the finger.
