Johor budget to be tabled on Dec 1

JOHOR BARU: The Johor government is set to table its 2023 budget on Dec 1 despite the political conundrum at the federal level.

The state assembly meeting has been called for the state government to table its budget.

Johor deputy speaker Datuk Samsolbari Jamali said the meeting would be held for 10 days at Bangunan Sultan Ismail in Kota Iskandar.

“We have sent out the letters informing all 56 assemblymen about the state assembly meeting, during which Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi will table the state budget.

“What is happening at the federal level will not have an impact on the function of the state government.

“The Johor government continues to run smoothly,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Samsolbari, who is also Semarang assemblyman and Johor Umno secretary, said all 56 assemblymen were required to attend the 10-day meeting.

“Hopefully, we will record good attendance among the elected representatives during the upcoming state assembly meeting,” he said.

Meanwhile, Onn Hafiz said his administration would continue to work for the well-being and prosperity of the people and the state.

“We are committed to working for the welfare and prosperity of the people and Johor,” he said in a Facebook post.
