Covid-19 Watch: 3,537 new cases bring total to 4,975,473


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 3,537 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday (Nov 23), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its KKMNow portal on Thursday (Nov 24) that this brings the new total to 4,975,473 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 3,537, there were seven imported cases; while 3,530 were local.

The ministry also said through its KKMNow portal that there were 3,319 recoveries on Wednesday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 27,213.

Of the active cases, 92.3% or 25,127 individuals were undergoing home quarantine, while 7.3% of active cases or 1,978 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 101 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 61 required ventilator support.

Eight deaths were also reported, with one victim recorded as brought in dead.

This brings the total of deaths due to Covid-19 up to 36,628.
