‘We have the numbers,’ claims Hadi

PETALING JAYA: Unlike all the activity at the Seri Pacific Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, the scene outside the home of Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in Bukit Damansara was one of calm.

A luxury car accompanied by two other vehicles was seen ferrying PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang into Muhyiddin’s residence at about 11.30am, while the spotlight was at the hotel where Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan leaders converged to hammer out an agreement needed to form the new federal government.

Abdul Hadi, who retained his Marang parliamentary seat in GE15, said Perikatan had collected statutory declarations (SDs) from more than 112 MPs in the effort to form the new federal government.

“Yes, just wait. We have the numbers, in fact more than enough. Waiting for an invitation (to Istana Negara) any time,” he told reporters while seated in his vehicle before leaving Muhyiddin’s residence at about 2pm.

While all this was happening, Perikatan added to the uncertainty by claiming that it had secured the necessary support to form the next federal administration and was waiting to hand over its list of parties and names of MPs who had agreed to an alliance.
