KUALA LUMPUR: The uncertain political landscape has created a lot of confusion, with journalists having to constantly verify the authenticity and sources of news, as well as the many photos on social media of meetings between political leaders.
Social media and messaging apps have been inundated with statements, including some purportedly from political leaders, which were later found to be fake.
The country’s political situation continues to be the focus of Malaysians, with many speculating about the formation of a new federal government.
The chats of those who follow the matter closely revolved around the conundrum of political parties in the coalitions and which one would govern the country for the next five years, Bernama reported.
Cyberspace is flooded with the keywords “PH-BN”, “Anwar”, “Zahid”, “DSAI” and “Seri Pacific” – all of which are trending on Twitter following the meeting of several Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional leaders at Hotel Seri Pacific here yesterday.
Some Malaysians also started suggesting new names if the two coalitions come together, including ‘Pakatan Nasional’ and ‘Harapan Nasional’, as well as creating a flag for the new ‘coalition of coalitions’.
