GE15: Statement about Perak coalition govt not from us, says Barisan

IPOH: A statement claiming that Pakatan Harapan has the numbers to form the Perak government with Barisan Nasional was not issued by Barisan.

An aide to state Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad (pic) said on Monday (Nov 21) that the statement was not issued by them.

Meanwhile, a state DAP leader said when asked via WhatsApp that Saarani was expected to make an announcement soon.

On his Facebook page, state PKR chairman Chang Lih Kang also said that Pakatan would form the state government with Barisan.

Earlier, a joint statement purportedly from both coalitions was sent out to members of the Chinese media and sighted by other press.

In the statement, it was claimed that Perak Barisan and Pakatan had a total of 33 state assemblymen and that it was sufficient to set up the state government.

Barisan had nine state assemblymen while Pakatan has 24 seats after the 15th General Election.

Perikatan Nasional has 26 seats.
