KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims in Melaka, Johor and Kelantan remained the same overnight while a drop was recorded in Selangor as of 8am Monday (Nov 21).
In MELAKA, the number stayed at 24 people from six families, according to the state disaster management committee secretariat.
All the affected victims who were placed in the relief centre at the State Legislative Assembly Development and Coordination Committee office Durian Tunggal are from Kampung Bukit Balai, Kampung Pulau and Kampung Belimbing in the Alor Gajah district.
In JOHOR, the number of flash flood victims still stood at 179 from the affected districts of Tangkak and Segamat.
The state disaster management committee said the victims, from 47 families, are being housed at four relief centres.
It also said two rivers are at warning levels – Sungai Muar (Buloh Kasap) and Sungai Muar (Kampung Awat) in Segamat – while cloudy skies are reported over several districts including Mersing, Pontian, Segamat, Batu Pahat, Tangkak and Kulai.
In KELANTAN, the Social Welfare Department's Disaster Information portal said the total number of flood victims in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas remained at 30 people from six families who have been placed at SK Tok Deh in Rantau Panjang.
In SELANGOR, the state Civil Defence Force said the number of flood victims dropped to 558 people from 154 families against 637 from 172 families last night with 12 relief centres opened: four in Sepang, three in Kuala Selangor and five in Kuala Langat.
In PERAK, the number of people displaced by floods increased by two, bringing the total to 866 from 243 families. They are currently sheltering at nine relief centres throughout the state.
The Perak Public Works Department (JKR) reported that several roads in the Batang Padang and Muallim districts were now open to all vehicles as water levels had receded.
Several roads in Manjung district are still closed to all vehicles due to floods, especially the Changkat Jering-Seri Manjung-Kampung Koh route. – Bernama
