GE15: 3,355 police reports lodged during election period


KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman received 3,355 police reports in connection with the 15th General Election (GE15) for the past two weeks.

Bukit Aman GE15 operations director Comm Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali said the police reports were lodged nationwide, including 446 reports in Kedah, followed Kelantan (424), Pahang (422), Selangor (419) and Perak (326).

"The reports were lodged from eve of nomination day (Nov 4) until polling day (Nov 19)," he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 20).

Based on the reports, 501 investigation papers (IPs) were opened, he said.

"137 IPs were referred to the deputy public prosecutor.

"Five suspects have been prosecuted, while three others are serving their sentences.

"Seven cases have been classified as No Further Action (NFA) while the remaining cases are still being investigated," Comm Hazani said.
