KUALA NERUS : Barisan Nasional's Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali arrived at his polling centre later than he had originally planned as he had to manage a few pressing matters.

The Kuala Nerus candidate was scheduled to arrive at SMK Kompleks Seberang Takir here at 8am but came to the centre two hours later.

"I had to settle two or three technical matters involving our machinery on the ground to help voters. I came here as soon as I settled everything," he said when met after casting his vote.

Besides Mohd Khairuddin, his wife Datin Alini Ramli, children and siblings also voted at the same polling centre.

Mohd Khairuddin then spent a few minutes greeting voters at the centre and expressed pleasure looking at the voter turnout.

"I can see that many arrived early, maybe because there's concern that it will be raining later in the afternoon or evening. This is a good sign, it shows their eagerness to vote this time around," he said.

The former PAS central committee member is contesting the Kuala Nerus parliamentary under a Barisan ticket following his departure from the Islamist party in March.

He will be facing off against PAS’ Datuk Dr Alias Razak, Datuk Seri Suhaimi Hashim of Pakatan Harapan and Azaha Wahid of Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia.

Mohd Khairuddin previously won the seat with an 8,000-vote majority.
