GE15: Incumbent Tanjung Malim MP says more relaxed this round compared to GE14 campaigning

TANJUNG MALIM: With less than a day before campaigning ends, incumbent Tanjung Malim MP Chang Lih Kang is making his last push for votes.

The 41-year-old began his day with a walkabout at a new village and would end it with a ceramah on Friday (Nov 18) night.

He had appeared rather relaxed in the past two weeks with an average of five events daily.

One-third of his time was outside of his constituency, campaigning for fellow PKR candidates in Pangkor, Tapah, Gopeng, and Kuala Kangsar, among others.

"As the Perak chairman, it is my responsibility to help and support them," he added.

Chang admitted that he was more relaxed this round compared to GE14.

"I know the constituency well, I am pretty close to the people, they know me and can reach out to me directly," he added.

On his campaign rounds, he said he focused more on areas with a high number of voters and those with low support in the previous elections while not neglecting the people who have been supporting him over the years.

"I have covered some 80% of my area, I hope to go for more as long as time permits," he said.

On his performance as an MP, he said he had answered the people’s calls and resolved their problems. Among the issues were installing a lift at the KTM station here, setting up a health clinic at an Orang Asli village and delivering funeral vans to two mosques.

"These were the requests from the locals during my campaign in 2018 and I followed up on the matters once I was elected," he added.

Chang also said that he interacted with the youths and listened to their needs regularly.

Chang was facing a strong challenge from Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon (BN-MCA) and Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi (PN-Bersatu).

The others in the race are Dr Amir Hamzah Abdul Rajak (GTA-Iman) and independents Mohd Nor Izzat Mohd Johari and Datuk Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi.
