GE15: Tok Mat rubbishes claims KJ planning to ‘finish him off' politically

JEMPOL: Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (pic) has rubbished talk that former Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin was planning to “finish him off” politically.

The Barisan Nasional deputy chairman said such tactics were merely attempts by their rivals to pit them against one another.

"They (Barisan's opponents) are always looking at ways to break us but we are least bothered by it," he told reporters while campaigning for Barisan's candidate for Jempol Datuk Shamshulkahar Mohd Deli at Felda Raja Alias 2 community hall.

Mohamad, who will be standing in Rembau, was asked to comment on a screenshot that has gone viral which was purportedly a conversation between Khairy and another individual.

In the conversation between the duo, Khairy purportedly told the recipient to "finish off" Mohamad in Rembau.

Khairy, who was Rembau MP for three terms, will be contesting the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat in Selangor this time around.

He had to make way for Mohamad who is also Rembau Umno chief for the seat.

Khairy in a tweet earlier said he would lodge a police report against the account holder who uploaded the fictitious conversation on social media.

A report would also be lodged with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

In his speech earlier, Mohamad said the Federal Government had in principle agreed to build a highway from Seremban to Jempol when he was Negri Sembilan mentri besar.

The highway was to be built until the Pahang border.

"The initial plan was to widen the existing route but I disagreed as we would have to acquire huge tracts of land belonging to the people.

"I then asked that the highway be built along a new route altogether but this was discontinued after Pakatan Harapan took over the state government in GE14," he said.

Mohamad said if Barisan is returned to power, the project would be revisited for the benefit of the local population.

In 2017, it was reported that the construction of a highway from Seremban to Temerloh in Pahang would be made part of the Jempol district draft plan 2030.
