GE15: New resort and water park to generate 300 jobs in Bertam, says Reezal

KEPALA BATAS: A new resort and water theme park will become the latest attraction in the fast-growing Bertam town here.

Incumbent Kepala Batas MP Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the Bertam Resort and Water Park would be part of his seven-point 'Aku Janji' pledge - to turn Bertam into a liveable place of choice for work and play.

"The opening of this five-star resort will immediately create 300 jobs, especially for the youth.

"This is part of my pledge to strengthen the youth agenda and create employment for the people in Kepala Batas," said the caretaker Housing and Local Government Minister after visiting the resort on Tuesday (Nov 16).

Work on the RM90mil resort and water park built on an 8ha land here began three years ago.

While the water park will be open to visitors next month, the 302-room resort was scheduled to open in February 2023.

Reezal Merican said the new attraction would bring more people to Kepala Batas, thus increasing the business of restaurants and the retail industry.

"Those staying here also need not travel to water theme parks in other states.

"It is poised to be a major tourist attraction, which will generate the much-needed revenue for the local economy.

"I have urged the government agencies involved in facilitating the construction of the resort and park to fast-track all necessary approvals so that it can be ready for the school holidays next month," he said.
