GE15: Tambun candidates who can't pronounce 'ayor' should exit, says Azmin in potshot at former mentor

IPOH: Tambun candidates who can't pronounce "ayor" – local slang for water – should exit and leave the town, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

In an apparent dig at PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, azmin said: "He can't even pronounce 'ayor' so why should he represent Tambun. If you say 'ayaq', then there is an exit for you."

In a speech to locals on Thursday (Nov 10), he said that Tambun deserves a local to represent the people.

Azmin is in Klebang Jaya to support Tambun parliamentary seat incumbent Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu in his campaign trail.

When Anwar announced plans to contest in Tambun, Ahmad Faizal released an online video teaching viewers to pronounce water as "ayor" instead of "ayaq", as commonly used in northern areas such as Penang, where Anwar was born.

Ahmad Faizal also said he is confident that Azmin will be able to retain his Gombak parliamentary seat in Selangor even in the face of competition from Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Shari.

"I hear the MB is good at golf. I hope voters (in Gombak) will give him the chance to become a professional golf player," Ahmad Faizal said in his speech.
