Tengku Maimun appointed as chair of CACJ


PETALING JAYA: Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat (pic) has been appointed chairman of the Council of Asean Chief Justices (CACJ), says the office of the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court.

The office said that Tengku Maimun was unanimously appointed by the council.

“Her Ladyship will helm the chairmanship for a two-year term from 2022 until 2024,” it said in a statement on Sunday.

The 10th Council of Asean Chief Justices Meeting and Inaugural Asean Meeting were held in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 4 and 5.

The meeting was attended by regional chief justices, heads of delegations and senior judicial officials.

The Malaysian judiciary had been entrusted with helming two working groups within the aegis of the CACJ: Facilitating Civil Processes within Asean, chaired by former chief judge of Malaya Tan Sri Azahar Mohamed, and Case Management and Court Technology, chaired by Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim.
