Over RM200K of subsidised diesel seized, 13 arrested in Kulai

KULAI: More than RM200,000 worth of subsidised diesel was seized by police in a raid at the Kampung Seelong industrial area here.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said 13 men, including nine foreigners, were also arrested during the raid at about 3.30pm on Monday (Oct 31).

“The building was raided following a tip-off that subsidised diesel was being sold illegally. Four locals and nine foreigners between the ages of 24 and 69 were arrested during the raid.

“Apart from the RM234,350 worth of diesel, we seized other items used for the illegal activity,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 1).

He added that none of the suspects had a criminal record, and were not on drugs.

“All the items seized were handed over to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry for further action," he said, adding that it was believed the illegal business had been going on for about three weeks.

The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, which provides a maximum fine of RM1mil or imprisonment not exceeding three years, or both, upon conviction.
