GE15: Nur Jazlan set to contest in Pulai

JOHOR BARU: Johor Umno deputy chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed is expected to make a comeback in the 15th General Election (GE15) after losing in the Pulai parliamentary seat in 2018.

He is expected to return to run against the man who beat him there, Amanah deputy president and current state Pakatan Harapan chief Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.

Another Umno leader expected to enter the ring again is Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim, who is expected to take on Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in Pagoh.

In GE14, Razali contested in Muar, which was won by Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman for Bersatu at the time.

Datuk Hamim Samuri is also expected to contest the Ledang parliamentary seat again.

Umno sources said state party chief Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad is expected to contest in Simpang Renggam while vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is expected to stand in Kota Tinggi.

Hasni will be up against former education minister Dr Maszlee Malik, who is contesting under the PKR banner.

Mohamed Khaled is expected to contest against Amanah’s Onn Jaafar.

Sources said no major changes are expected in the Barisan Nasional candidate line-up set to be announced Tuesday (Nov 1) night.

Johor has 26 parliamentary seats. It held its state elections in March, with Barisan winning 40 out of the 56 legislative assembly seats.
