IN conjunction with Sime Darby Property’s 50th anniversary, the company is inviting students of all Malaysian schools to mobilise their creativity and intellect in the Innovators of Tomorrow – Reimagine The Future Home competition.
Can your ideas help save energy and reduce pollution? Will your homes be more innovative and sustainable post-pandemic? These are issues to challenge the students.2020 was the year that homes became our safe space when Covid-19 hit.
So it’s time to consider how our abodes should be designed to withstand other unprecedented circumstances of the future, and how we can be kinder to our planet in doing so. After all, you will be the homebuyers of the future. So help rethink and reimagine the homes of tomorrow.
This is part of Sime Darby Property’s envisioning of high-quality yet affordable homes under its Concept Home 2030 initiative – a platform that enables architects and visionaries to exchange solutions with the industry, consumers and the public and convert great ideas into designs, and great designs into prototypes.
Now, Sime Darby Property is inviting students to reimagine sustainable building, living and home ownership through new designs, technology and lifestyles. How can new high-performing and cost-effective materials along with modern methods of construction be utilised? With a helping hand from the students, this vision can be realised to mould dynamic and resilient communities in the future.
For the Innovators of Tomorrow – Reimagine The Future Home competition, there are four connecting themes that will holistically drive Sime Darby Property’s vision of better homes for the future. Students will need to explore and conceptualise their ideas based on the themes:
> Sustainability: How can we build homes which are kinder to the environment?
> Design: What will it look like?
> Build: Do you have unique and creative ways to build such homes?
> Technology: What technology will it involve?
Selected school teams will have to undergo a thorough submission process followed by a series of virtual and physical workshops that will give them the opportunity to create a prototype of their concept, for a distinguished panel to review at the final judging. Winning teams will receive attractive prizes from Sime Darby Property and Yayasan Sime Darby.
The Innovators of Tomorrow – Reimagine The Future Home competition is part of Sime Darby Property’s future-forward direction as the company celebrates its golden anniversary with the Beyond 50 campaign. The company’s new purpose is “to be a value multiplier for people, businesses, economies and the planet.”
Sime Darby Property group managing director Datuk Azmir Merican believes the company is ready to pave the way for communities, the environment, businesses, and the economy to thrive together for generations to come.
“Our vision is to advance real estate as a force for collective progress, in harmony with the planet’s resources.
“Our growth in the past five decades has been inspiring and we have a vision in line with our new strategy, which we must say was ahead of its time. We were already developing sustainable communities years before our peers, and now we are ready to set the bar higher.
“We believe that Sime Darby Property’s role in this ecosystem is beyond the confines of its employees and stakeholders. The industry seeks us for guidance and our peers look at us for inspiration.
“At the end of the day, you will see that Sime Darby Property made the world a better place than when we started,” said Azmir.
