IPOH: Another Malaysian human trafficking victim is pleading to be rescued and flown home.
Seamstress Vong Foong Thai, 61, said her son Choong Chin Yee, 28, is currently in Manila, Philippines and had asked her to save him.
"He managed to escape from a heavily-guarded compound on Tuesday (Oct 25) where he and hundreds of other people were held.
"He is now wandering the streets alone with a little bit of money to buy food," she told a press conference held by Ipoh Barat MCA coordinator Low Guo Nan at his centre here on Thursday (Oct 27).
"He asked me to save him but I don't know how.
"I've been having sleepless nights, as I'm really worried about his safety and wellbeing," she added.
Vong said Choong travelled to the Philippines in November last year, after hearing about a high-paying job from his friend.
"He had informed me about the job, which involved computers, but I did not realise then that it was related to human trafficking," she said, adding that Choong was the eldest of three sons.
"I later found out from him that he was working for a Chinese national to recruit other scammers.
"Had I known, I would have prevented him from leaving," she added.
Low said he would write to the Malaysian Embassy in the Philippines about Choong's predicament.
