Dept: No video recordings of Najib from prison


KUALA LUMPUR: No video recording has been made by any media agency involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in prison, said the Prisons Department.

The department issued a statement following Najib’s appearance on a television channel that went viral on social media.

According to the department, Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) had already recorded the video for the 57th episode of Kembara Keluarga Malaysia before Najib was sent to prison.

“The video shown on TV1 on Oct 24 is on the history and background of Pekan, Pahang, and is not related to politics,” it said.

Najib is serving a 12-year jail sentence for misappropriating SRC International Sdn Bhd’s funds amounting to RM42mil. He was also fined RM210mil for the offence.

The 57th episode of the 24-minute documentary called Kembara Keluarga Malaysia featured its host Jasper Supayah and visits to the Sultan Abu Bakar Museum, Sultan Abdullah Mosque Museum and Belibis Cafe in Pekan.

Najib, who is Pekan MP, appeared in the documentary, talking about the unique features of Pekan. — Bernama
