Budget 2023: Tengku Zafrul on way to Parliament for tabling


PUTRAJAYA: Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has left the Finance Ministry here and is on his way to Parliament in Kuala Lumpur for the tabling of Budget 2023.

The Finance Minister, who was wearing a turqoise Baju Melayu, held up a document folder with a weave pattern from Perak believed to contain the Budget.

Before embarking on his journey, a short prayer reading was conducted by the Finance Ministry Islamic affairs office Mohamad Zukrillah Ismail in the lobby of the Treasury.

Also seen present were Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah, Deputy Finance Minister II Datuk Yamani Hafez Musa and other senior officers from the Ministry.

Sinar Harian reported that Tengku Zafrul left the Treasury building at 2.28pm on Friday (Oct 7).

Tengku Zafrul, when asked by reporters about the contents of Budget 2023, responded with a big smile.

Budget 2023 is expected to continue the country’s ongoing recovery momentum in addition to placing emphasis on structural reforms and strengthening economic resilience.

Themed "Strengthening Recovery, Facilitating Reforms Towards Sustainable Socio-Economic Resilience of Keluarga Malaysia”, Budget 2023 will also see focus given to the people, businesses and the economy.

This is the third time Tengku Zafrul will be tabling the budget, after tabling Budget 2021 and Budget 2022.
