Average monthly salaries, wages of workers up 3.5% in 2021


PUTRAJAYA: The average monthly salaries and wages received by employees in Malaysia increased by 3.5% in 2021 to RM3,037 compared with RM2,933 in 2020, according to the 2021 Salary and Wage Survey Report released by the Statistics Department (DOSM).

Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin (pic) said the number of salary and wage earners in Malaysia was 9.7 million people in 2021, an increase of 3.4% compared with 9.4 million people in 2020.
