KUALA LUMPUR: Some 40 homes in Port Klang have been hit by flash floods from heavy rains that began in the early morning.

Port Klang Fire and Rescue Department deputy chief Razif Mohammad Haris was quoted by a news portal as saying that about 200 residents were affected yesterday.

Among the places were Kampung Delek and Kampung Sungai Sireh.

Many residents had to wade through ankle-deep water.

Razif said residents noticed the water starting to rise at about 7.20am and receded at 7.35am.

“We also saw a 30% drop in the high tide phenomenon.

“So far, the overall situation is under control,” he said, adding that they have yet to receive complaints.
