Cops nab five teens for breaking into two Gelang Patah schools to steal


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested five teenagers for breaking into and stealing from two schools in Gelang Patah here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said that the suspects, aged from 15 to 17 years old, had dropped out of school and were arrested by the Gelang Patah Police Station Task Force on Tuesday (Sept 27).

“The group broke into SK Nusa Perintis 1 and SK Taman Nusantara on Sept 19 and Sept 26, respectively.

“Their modus operandi is to pick the door lock and cut the grill before rummaging through the teachers' offices and room,” he said in a statement here Wednesday (Sept 28).

Some of the stolen items include a 10-inch tablet and cash worth RM2,000, he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary, which carries a prison sentence of up to 14 years as well as a fine and whipping.
