ACTRESS Nadia Brian has put her divorce behind her and won’t let her status as a divorcee define her life, Kosmo! reported.

Nadia, who was divorced more than a year ago, said her status as a divorcee was not something to be proud of.

She said she was determined to focus on her career and take up a variety of roles.

“I admit I’m quite selective when choosing roles.

“I’m not a fussy actor but I have to make the right choice to give life to the characters I’m assigned to,” said Nadia, whose full name is Nadia Najwa Mohamed Rashidi.

She added that she would like to be involved in a biopic genre film.

> A prisoner since the age of 14, a Sabahan who only wanted to be known as Murad, is determined to achieve his dream of becoming a doctor of philosophy, Sinar Harian reported.

Although he was illiterate, Murad said he was determined not to make prison an obstacle from gaining knowledge and started to study after seeing fellow inmates revising their lessons.

He said he used the aid money he received after converting to Islam in 2002 to fund his studies.

“Why do I want to study? I believe that only through education, I can prove to others that I still have opportunities beyond these prison bars,” he said.

Murad said he was determined to put a doctorate to his name.

> The community’s complacent attitude towards their health is one of the reasons why the PeKa B40 scheme, which provides free health screening to eligible B40 individuals, is not being fully utilised, Harian Metro reported.

Public health specialist Datuk Dr Zainal Ariffin Omar said, until now, many people still gave various reasons for not utilising this scheme.

He said that even though it was introduced since 2019, the scheme failed to attract many takers.

“Our society doesn’t care (about health). They only seek treatment when they are sick.

“Even though the facilities are already there (PeKa B40), they give many excuses such as having no transport and so on, so the initiatives provided by the government are not (being) utilised,” he added.

He encouraged those who are eligible to take advantage of the scheme for their own good.
