Budget 2023 to focus on recovery

JELI: Efforts to revive the economy will be the focus in Budget 2023 to be tabled on Oct 7, says Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

He said previously, the focus was on health, but as the Covid-19 situation improves, the focus has shifted to economic recovery.

“The main task of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet is to ensure that inflation is under control, job opportunities continue to be created, and at the same time continue to assist small and medium enterprises,” he told reporters here yesterday, reported Bernama.

Mustapa said the Budget is a short-term economic plan that requires transformation.

“We must introduce reform measures; if we continue with the old measures, we will not succeed.

“We want to ensure that our economy will grow at 5.6% to 6.4% as targeted,” he added.
