Four nabbed, almost RM200,000 worth of syabu seized in KL drug bust

KUALA LUMPUR: Some 5.4kg of syabu worth RM193,680 were seized while four men were detained following a raid in Taman Sri Sentosa here.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Yahaya Othman said the raid codenamed Ops Tobias was conducted at 7.25pm on Monday (Sept 19).

"Three of the suspects tested positive for ganja.

"We also seized 5.4kg of syabu worth close to RM200,000," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 21).

Initial investigations revealed that the syndicate has been active for about four months, he said.

"We believe they only sold syabu to people that they know.

"Three of the suspects have prior criminal records," he added.

DCP Yahaya said police believed the syndicate obtained their drug supply from a state in the northern part of the country.

"The suspects have been remanded until Sept 26.

"The drugs seized could have supplied 10,760 addicts," he said.

He also urged those with information on drug abuse-related activities to contact the Kuala Lumpur Narcotic Crime Investigation Department via WhatsApp at 012-2087222.
