School chided for disallowing STPM Tamil paper


A SECONDARY school in Skudai, Johor, was accused of trying to stop Indian students from taking Tamil as a subject in the STPM examination, reported Malaysia Nanban.

Parents of the affected students who spoke to the daily said the school principal allegedly issued a letter refusing permission for the students to take the Tamil Language examination.

The parents said they had spoken to the school management but did not get a satisfactory answer.

The parents said a report has also been lodged with the district education department over the issue.

At least eight students at the school were interested in taking the examination. The parents said that stopping them from taking the subjects was not acceptable.

The parents who spoke to the daily said they would meet the education department officials to get an answer.
