KJ: I’m staying put in Umno

PETALING JAYA: It will be then, now and forever Umno for Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

In dismissing the rumours making the rounds online saying he has quit the party, the Rembau MP said it was fake news and that he is still a party member.

In an Instagram post, he said even though there were past incidents that could have become push factors for him to leave the party, he will continue to remain in Umno.

He also attached a screenshot of a video that claimed Khairy had left the party.

“I won Youth Chief but was not selected to serve in the Cabinet and was ignored. I continue to remain in Umno,” he wrote yesterday.

He also said that he remained committed to Umno despite the party losing the last general election and having faced various political persecutions.

Khairy added that he would remain in the party despite being asked to relinquish his MP seat to make room for others.

“Don’t worry. Then, now and forever,” he said.

The video entitled “KJ Keluar Umno! Sah, keputusan muktamad Khairy Jamaluddin!” has been viewed over 57,000 times on Youtube since last week.

The video claimed that Khairy left Umno after being told to give up his Rembau seat to Barisan Nasional deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan or Tok Mat.
