Seberang Jaya rep slams Anwar for allegedly spewing hatred, abuse at political opponents

PETALING JAYA: Seberang Jaya assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin slams Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for allegedly spewing hatred and abuse during a PKR rally in Gombak recently.

"Anwar and other PKR leaders have no other plans or programmes for the rakyat except abusing political opponents with slurs like 'traitor'," said Dr Afif in response to the PKR president's speech in Gombak during the Mega Keadilan Roadshow on Sunday (Sept 11).

"This strategy reeks of the disturbing elements of absolutism and one-party rule espoused by authoritative regimes," he added.

Dr Afif said listening to Anwar's speech one would have thought Malaysia was no longer a democratic country where anyone had the right to leave one political party for another.

"It is our firm belief in Perikatan Nasional, especially Bersatu, that we do not drag voters into party factionalism or party politics but address their real needs in the area of economy, education and welfare," he added.

Gombak is the constituency of Senior Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali who defected from PKR in February 2020 and is believed to be the prime mover of the Sheraton Move that brought down the Pakatan Harapan government.

Dr Afif left PKR two months later and joined Bersatu.
